The Museum has a Board of Management responsible for the overall administration and policy making. Members are drawn from the University of Canberra staff, students and adjuncts, together with representatives of its partner institutions and affiliates.
As a national museum, the ANME is committed to developing its national network, informed by its National Representatives.

Noeline was awarded an Emeritus Professorship from Queensland University of Technology for her distinguished career and contribution to history and education in 2001 and is an Honorary Professor at the University of Sydney.
Noeline has been working with and supporting amateur historians for more than 30 years during which time she has conducted many workshops, seminars and talks on writing family stories, memoir and Australian history.
Noeline is a member of the Society of Women Writers, History Council of NSW, Macleay River Historical Society, a life member of Newcastle Family History Society and maintains membership of several local family history groups. She is passionate about and continues to support the research and writing of professional history in the community through her writing and her website.
Emeritus Professor John Ramsland OAM, F Coll P, FACE, was born in Manly in 1942. After a career as a high school teacher and as a lecturer in country teachers' colleges, John was appointed to Newcastle University in 1978. He rose to become Professor of History and Dean of the Faculty.
His research is regarded internationally and he has written widely in Aboriginal Studies, 19th Century Institutions, historical biography and war history, including the first biography of Joseph Maxwell VC Venturing into No Man’s Land. He has published 24 books and monographs and over 130 book chapters, reviews, essays and articles in journals.
Former Dean of the Faculty of Education (1997-2003) and then Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (2003), Professor Geoffrey Sherington has been a member of the University of Sydney for over 25 years. After a career as a lecturer, senior lecturer and Associate Professor he was appointed to a personal chair in the history of education in 1997 just before becoming Dean of the Faculty. Over the past 30 years, he has been the author and co-author of 15 books and numerous articles in the history of education. He has been the recipient of a number of competitive research grants. His current interests include the fate of the comprehensive public high school and the history of universities as public institutions.
