The University of Canberra is governed by its Council which is established by the University of Canberra Act 1989 (ACT). The Act defines the functions, values and powers of the University and allows the University to make statutes, rules, and policies to carry out or give effect to the Act. The Council has the entire management of the University and is to act in all matters concerning the University in the way it considers will best promote the interests of the University.
