Kick off your Canberra journey at the 2026 Chief Minister’s Student Welcome, where new students are invited to connect, explore and celebrate their new home. Held at the National Gallery of Australia, this free event brings together hundreds of students from across Canberra for a relaxed and welcoming introduction to the city.
Enjoy a free taste of Australia with classic savoury snacks, sweet treats and a few iconic surprises. Get up close with native Australian wildlife thanks to our friends at the Reptile Zoo, take part in fun activities and games, and learn more about Canberra’s rich Indigenous heritage. You can also meet the Chief Minister and pick up your exclusive student welcome pack!
There are plenty of prizes up for grabs on the night, including a hot air balloon flight over Canberra for two people, plus a range of Canberra experiences and vouchers.
When: 5:30pm–7:45pm, Monday 2 March 2026
