Pre-departure checklist

Get organised for your big trip with our pre-departure checklist:

• Attend your mandatory UC Global Learning Experience pre-departure session for cultural, medical, welfare, legal and security advice specific to your destination
  
  
• Register with International SOS via the My Trips section of the UC International Portal
  
  
• Download the International SOS emergency check-in app
  
  
• Read your UC travel insurance policy so you know what you are and aren’t covered for. International students without an Australian Permanent Resident Visa are not covered for evacuation and medical expenses incurred in their home country.
  
  
• Purchase additional health and/or travel insurance if you want extra coverage or are required to have it by your host university. If you do purchase additional insurance, you must contact the company that provides it rather than International SOS when you need support or to make a claim.
  
  
• Check the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Smartraveller website for information and travel warnings about your destination and subscribe to receive up-to-date email notifications
  
  
• If you’re not an Australian citizen, you should register your travel plans with your country’s embassy, high commission or consulate or the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s equivalent
