Pop art is a widely known art movement that catches the eye of the audience through its colourful and vibrant pallet. Gaining its inspiration from sources in popular and commercial culture. The depth and contrast in the piece is shown clearly through the distinct colouration throughout each individual placement. Doja Cat is a popular music artist that is commonly discussed amongst the new generation. I chose to recreate her portrait through pop art because she has made it to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 on numerous occasions. She has won a number of awards including the top R&B artist in 2021 at the Billboard Music Awards. Her music has also been used by young minds billions of times to create dances through a popular social media app known as TikTok. She is a perfect example for pop culture and commercialism in today's society. I have noticed the popularity of my piece amongst the viewers due to the fact that I used this particular artist. Provoking genuine interest from the audience is always the goal when creating an artistic piece. I hope to inspire other visual artists, as well as music artists with this intensely saturated piece of art.
