With a flair in marketing and an uncanny knack for networking with international business associates, Zakes Quek has taken his industry by storm.

Since conferred his Bachelor of Business Administration from UC in 2006, Zakes has made a name for himself by providing strong regional leadership in Southeast Asia and Australasia markets, helping build up companies in three diverse industries into leading powerhouses. Being bilingual in English and Mandarin, Zakes is the subject matter expert for establishing international trade agreements and partnerships.

Striving to expand his intellectual capacity, Zakes completed his Master of Applied Finance from the University of Adelaide in 2008. Next, Zakes plans on pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA).

"UC led me on a journey of personal and professional development, raising my confidence to successfully take on new challenges and opportunities" Zakes says. "The wonderful UC experience of interacting with people from all walks of life has helped me gained valuable new insights into different situations."

Currently, Zakes is the Regional Manager Asia Pacific – Dry Bulk Division with InterBulk Group, a leading provider of global logistics solutions to the chemical, polymer, food and mineral industries on the London AIM stock exchange.

Zakes is instrumental in increasing InterBulk Group's global outreach and expansion with almost 40% year on year revenue growth over 2 consecutive financial years in his division. EBITDA profitability has also been increased through the implementation of process improvements and increased capital equipment utilization strategies.

In 2015, Zakes was appointed as the UC Alumni Representative for Singapore.
