BACHELOR OF GRAPHIC DESIGN, 2002

Claire Connelly graduated from a Bachelor of Graphic Design in 2002. After graduating Claire worked for Early Childhood Australia, various local design studios and a stint in the public service. However, Claire has always had a passion for environmentally sustainable design in business, leading her to establish Papercut - an environmentally sustainable design business in 2007.

Papercut has seen huge success since its establishment, receiving many awards including three for environmental practises and three for business practises. Papercut has become a hub for young designers wanting to gain experience in the field of design. "I found it invaluable as a student that people gave me the opportunity to work in a studio, so I thought it was important to offer that experience to others, and I have subsequently employed graduates from the university as a result. Sustainable design is the way of the future and excites me to be leading Papercut in this innovative direction."

The success of Papercut has seen Claire recognised for her achievements when she was awarded the 2010 ACT Business Woman of the Year by the ACT Chamber of Women in Business. Claire received the award for her leadership qualities, tenacity, compassion, and for being a role model for fellow businesswomen. Claire is also an ambassador for the '1 million women campaign' – inspiring action to prevent climate change, a member of the Chamber of Women in Business and Women Chiefs of Enterprises International.
