‘‘Ngura’ – belonging. The decolonising power of Restorative Practice to connect and heal’

Dr Holly Northam will be presenting the Background and findings that are specific to the recommendation they are presenting.

Dr Wayne Applebee will be providing recommendations for translation of the knowledge we have acquired.

In this presentation we describe what restorative practice is, why it is important, and the deep connections that can be made in healthcare practice between the community and care givers when restorative practice and principles are applied to the healthcare relationship.

Specifically, we will share a decolonised approach that describes the role and impact of Whanganui’s Haumoana. We provide a knowledge translation to practice vision for Canberra, with an innovative recommendation that will enable provision of culturally safe healthcare.
