23 February 2016: Experienced international higher education executive Rongyu Li has today commenced his role as the University of Canberra's new Vice-President Global.
Mr Li's most recent position was as executive director International at RMIT University, and he has more than 15 years of experience in the field of international higher education, including devising and executing internationalisation strategies, overseeing international offices, language centres, pathway providers, transnational education programs and academic partnerships.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Stephen Parker said he was very pleased with the appointment.
"Rongyu Li's extensive international and business experience will further advance the University of Canberra's global engagement and international student recruitment strategy," Professor Parker said. "His leadership and expertise will also contribute to the development of new opportunities with our domestic student partnerships.
Prior to his role at RMIT he was executive director International at Deakin University. He has also held a range of senior positions in business development at other tertiary institutions and in the private sector.
Mr Li holds a MA in Organisations and Change from City University, London. He is a member of the board of the International Education Association of Australia.
Mr Li was born in a small rural village in the North Eastern part of China and lived through many political movements, including the Cultural Revolution and food rationing. He worked for the Chinese Government in facilitating direct foreign investment, and project-managed a number of foreign aid programs, including some from AusAID, which contributed to his coming to Australia to work and live in 1992. His parents, brothers and sisters still live in China.
Mr Li succeeds Professor Simon Ridings who held the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global).
