30 April 2015: The University of Canberra's chair of urban and regional planning Barbara Norman has had her membership of the ACT's leading climate change advisory group extended.
The latest appointments to the ACT Climate Change Council include a reappointment for Professor Norman for another three years, with one additional year as committee chair.

Professor Norman who is director of Canberra Urban and Regional Futures (CURF) based at the University of Canberra has served on the council since its inception in 2011.
The council's role is to advise the ACT Minister for the Environment on matters relating to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, addressing and adapting to climate change.
"The ACT Government has a target of 90% renewable energy by 2020 and it is currently on track to achieve this goal," she said.
"The ACT Climate Change Council has played an active role in developing strategies for renewable energy and support and providing advice on its implementation," Professor Norman added.
She wants the second term of council to examine issues of climate change adaptation and how that applies to the ACT.
"There are many challenges for the Canberra community in the future. Part of council's role and my role within it will be to examine and shape the way we address climate related issues around bushfire risk, landscape, heat and water."
