4 March 2014: The Honourable Margaret Reid AO delivered the 2014 Don Aitkin lecture on the topic Food security in Australia's region: a meal without taro is not a meal at the University of Canberra on 13 February.
In the lecture, Dr Reid discussed how Canberra can lead the way in achieving sustainable agriculture, food systems, resource planning and poverty relief.
A short ceremony was also held before the lecture, with Dr Reid receiving an honorary doctorate from the University in recognition of significant achievements, service and commitment to Australia and the Canberra community in the areas of parliament, law and philanthropy.
