Prospective students invited to explore UC via virtual Open Day

17 August 2020: The University of Canberra will be hosting an exciting virtual Open Day for future students and their families this weekend.

Take a virtual tour of key facilities of the University, chat with current students and staff, and book a personalised consultation with your future professors. You can also read some of the UnCover stories from our staff, students and alumni. Virtual Open Day kicks off on Saturday 22 August in lieu of the traditional on-campus Open Day due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Each faculty and business unit at the University will be streaming live content on 22 August, with the content to remain available online, supported by live chat until Friday 28 August for those who are unable to make the live event.

“As always, the health and safety of the entire University of Canberra community is a priority,” said University of Canberra Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President Academic, Professor Geoff Crisp.

“By running a virtual Open Day, we can maintain social distancing measures and ensure that prospective students and their parents – regardless of where they live – can still attend and participate.”

Once prospective students have registered for Open Day activities, participants will receive individual log in credentials that will allow them to virtually visit different rooms and chat with staff and current students in both one-on-one and group formats. There will also be opportunities for participants to learn about student life and activities at the University.

“UC campus life is a hive of activity and although things look slightly different at the moment, we want to ensure that students do not miss out on important aspects of the University experience,” said Professor Crisp.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Canberra has been on the front foot with the roll-out of a virtual campus, and the implementation of remote learning. The virtual Open Day signifies further growth in this space.
