Joint Statement from UC and ANU

13 February 2019: ACT Policing is investigating an alleged assault on two students on Cooyong St in Canberra CBD on Thursday 7 February at approximately 4.30pm.

Police are asking anyone with any information that may assist police to please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 and quote the number 6361241.

The University of Canberra and The Australian National University are deeply concerned and saddened by reports two of their students were victims of an assault.  Our first priority is the wellbeing of our students, and we are providing direct care and support to those affected.

We are all shocked and appalled that this has happened in Canberra, a city where incidents are very rare.

We work closely with each other, with ACT Policing, the ACT Government, our student representative groups and community organisations to keep our campuses and communities safe and Canberra a place where our students can live, learn and grow safely.
