Domestic violence initiatives in the spotlight at UC symposium

31 May 2018: Some of Australia’s leading social justice advocates will come together to discuss three innovative initiatives aimed at curbing family violence in Australia at the Justice Connections 5 symposium at the University of Canberra TOMORROW.

Speakers and guests will discuss and debate the successes and failures of an Indigenous healing service in Victoria and a domestic violence intervention program in New South Wales, as well as strategies to tackle technology-facilitated abuse in the domestic violence.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Professor Tom Calma AO (University of Canberra Chancellor and former Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner)
  • Shane Rattenbury MLA (ACT Justice Minister)
  • Hon Michael Kirby AO (former Justice of the High Court of Australia)
  • Dr Helen Watchirs (President of the ACT Human Rights Commission)
