Tolo and Griffin partner up at AIS

4 July 2018: University of Canberra Capitals stars Marianna Tolo and Kelsey Griffin have been using injury rehabilitation sessions to form a strong partnership ahead of the 2018/19 WNBL season.

Tolo and Griffin have been undergoing rehab for knee and ankle injuries respectively at the Australian Institute of Sport.

Tolo has resumed running on the Alter G machine which allows users to exercise at a percentage of their body weight, reducing the impact on joints.

She is undergoing rehabilitation after tearing her anterior cruciate ligament at an Australian Opals training camp in Italy earlier this year.

Griffin, who has signed a two-year deal with the UC Capitals, chose to forego a training contract with WNBA side Connecticut Sun and stay in Australia to have ankle surgery to clean out bone spurs.

Her decision to stay home paid off, with the 30-year-old selected in the Australian Opals squad to contest the upcoming Four Nation Tournament in China.

WHAT: UC Capitals media opportunity – Marianna Tolo, Kelsey Griffin and head coach Paul Goriss will be available for interview. Photo and vision opportunities include Tolo using the Alter G and Kelsey doing weights and boxing.

WHEN: Thursday 5 July 11.30am – 12pm

WHERE: Australian Institute of Sport, Building 11 (strength and conditioning gymnasium), Leverrier Street, Bruce (see AIS map for details). Meet at the entrance.
