Australian Respiratory Virology Meeting

The first Australian Respiratory Virology Meeting

Venue:

Inspire Centre, Building 25
University of Canberra, Canberra

Date:

4-5th December 2015

Organisers:

Reena Ghildyal, Kirsten Spann, Patrick Reading

About:

Despite a significant international reputation in respiratory virology, Australia does not have a scientific meeting dedicated to this important group of viruses.

In order to support Australian interdisciplinary research that spans laboratory basic research, development and clinical translation, it is imperative that scientists and clinicians working in the area are able to share their research and ideas in a collegial setting away from their primary workplace. The proposed biannual meeting aims to provide such a venue for scientists and clinicians working in the field of respiratory virology.

The meeting is also envisaged to be a showcase of work by early career researchers with a view to career progression. Learning from similar meetings in the USA and Europe, PhD students in their final years will be specially encouraged to present their work and provided with discounted registration and accommodation (dependent on funding).
